The Threes

Threes represent the ultimate in choice-making. When you have three clear choices, you know you can pick one confidently. Without three choices you either have no choice or a dilemma.

Three is an active number. It is a synthesis of one and two. The three-sided figure is stable - it is difficult to smash or manipulate. A three-legged stool is stable and will not tip easily. The number three may represent a problem-solving situation in which you need to discern three choices in order to make an effective decision.

Wands
The Three of Wands represents the capacity for business partnership. It reflects the ability to nurture growth of communication by analyzing the possible choices with an eye to the psychic qualities of each.

Coins

The Three of Coins represents the capacity for creative choice making. Every man-made thing reflects the choices made by it developer or creator. This card suggests the evolutionary process of moving from one creative decision to the next in a series of steps that develop into completed projects.

Swords

The Three of Swords represents the capacity to separate elements through conflict. There is a sense here that misuse of creative intellect leads to great sorrow, whereas right use of the mind leads to a new balance. Without mental control, illness or heartache can occur.

Cups

The Three of Cups represents the capacity to form marriage and family. The celebration in this card reflects the emotionally satisfying condition of understanding your choices and choosing for yourself. Each emotional choice leads to fullness of feeling and the ability to transform situations for the benefit of yourself and others.
